Well… that was interesting! As the sun sets on what has felt like the quickest (and strangest) year there’s ever been, we all feel pretty pleased to see the back of 2021. But despite how weird the year was, some brilliant things happened that you made possible. So, we thought we’d take a moment to look back and share a few things we’re proud of that came out of 2021. Read on or our 8 highlights from the year that was…
1. We launched some amazing new stationery and productivity tools
As you know, our aim is to constantly develop new stationery that uplifts, inspires and empowers you! If we had to choose, the two ranges that sum up the best of Martha Brook in 2021 are our Life Planners and Vegan Leather collection, both because of the amount of work we put into them, but also because we’ve been blown away with your response to them! So many of you have told us the difference the Life Planners have made to your productivity and positivity, which has been such a big highlight for us.
2. We worked with some brilliant brands
Another one of our 8 highlights for 2021 is that we’ve had the honour of collaborating with some fantastic brands. We love working with like-minded companies to have a bit of fun, especially over on our Instagram, so it was our pleasure to have worked with the likes of Mustard Made, Beards & Daisies, Bloom & Wild, Biscuiteers, Little Cake Garden and Merci Maman. We’re already planning out what we’d like to do next year and let us know if there are any brands you’d like us to partner with in the comments!
3. We launched this blog!
You may remember we launched this website in November 2020 – doesn’t time fly?! We gave our site a completely new look and felt we wanted to give our blog the same kind of love too. We got the wheels in motion and shortly after our website launch, we launched our brand-new blog ‘P.S.’ too. Our aim was for this to be the home to weekly uplifting inspiring reads, from features on other small businesses to how to use your stationery. We’ve been thrilled to have released a new article every week since then and have loved your feedback on how useful they have been. Watch this space for even more in 2022!
4. We went viral
As well as inspiring you through our stationery, we want everything we do at Martha Brook to add some joy to your day, which includes the newsletters that land in your inbox every week and the daily posts over on our social channels. One of our 8 highlights from this year, which we were over the moon about, was when a few of our posts went viral! Unbelievably more than 100K people saw, liked and shared our Olympics Life Lessons post, including some actual Olympians OMG. And 2.2M people saw Martha paint her home office door pink! Whenever you like, comment or share one of our posts on social media, it means so much so thank you if that has been you.
5. We set up reviews!
Finally! You can now leave us feedback on both Google and Trustpilot. We’ve absolutely loved reading your useful and often downright lovely feedback on our stationery and service. We are always striving to delight you with every purchase so this has been a real win for us and thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to leave us a review already!
6. The 2021 Stationery Advent Calendar
We might even call this one our best yet?! This year’s stationery advent calendar must be one of our favourites so far. Taking inspiration from Matisse for the design, we wanted the design to feel playful and optimistic at the same time as keeping our ‘Love Our Planet’ ethos at the forefront of this product. Being made partially from coffee cups destined for landfill, this advent calendar packaging is 100% recyclable too! All we can say is we’re already starting to think of ideas for next year’s advent calendar…who’s ready?!
7. We’ve been in the news!
And lastly, we are super proud to have had some incredible press features in 2021. From our products popping up in Stylist, Hello!, Metro, Daily Express, The Independent, Glamour, The Telegraph, Heat, House Beautiful and Ideal Home to name a few! To business features on Sky News, the Evening Standard and Martha on the front page of The Times – crazy.
8. We’ve donated to some brilliant causes
And finally, something very close to our hearts is working with charities to raise money and donate where we can. Since 2019 we have partnered the charity, In Kind Direct to distribute our stationery to their network of community centres and schools. This year, we made our biggest donation in March of over 1,000 notebooks, which we know were hugely appreciated. We also partnered with Save The Children for Christmas Jumper Day raising just over £1,000 and had some fun whilst we were at it too! Watch this space for more work for good causes in 2022.
Phew! Have you been following along this year? What have you enjoyed that we have done in 2021? And any requests for next year? Do let us know in the comments!
P.S. We’re closed for Christmas giving our team a much-needed break, but you can still place an order! We’ll be back on the 4th January when we’ll send out all your stationery and be gearing up to bring you so much more fun stuff in 2022.
