October 2013

It all begins with one girl and her printer…

A self-confessed stationery addict, Martha’s love of paper goods was evident from an early age when she started her first stationery business aged ten. Martha went on to study Science at University, embarking upon a successful career in the healthcare industry – but that lifelong obsession with stationery was never far away. In 2013, Martha left her corporate role with the dream of doing something more purposeful and followed her passion to create Martha Brook.

The brand name combines Martha’s name with where the brand originated, her first home in Brook Green, London.

October 2014

Martha welcomes her first employees

After a year of roping in friends and family, Martha hired her first employees and turned her spare room into a production studio. With the extra help, the brand gained traction and Martha covered every available surface in her home with boxes.

September 2015

The Team expands & receives ‘Start Up Success of the Year’ Award

As Christmas approached, Martha welcomed Alex to the production team. (Alex is still with us today - Martha Brook’s longest serving team member!) Martha Brook was proudly announced ‘Start Up Success of the Year’ by Notonthehighstreet just shy of two years after the brand launched.

April 2016

Martha & Chris go all in!

After three years, Martha officially welcomed the Head of Operations to the team… her husband, Chris!

October 2016

Martha Brook moves to West London

As Martha Brook celebrated its third birthday, Martha and Chris made the decision to move Martha Brook out of their home and into our very first office in Brentford. As the business grew so did our team, with 7 wonderful team members.

September 2017

A new employee on the way…

A pregnant Martha was inspired to create our baby and pregnancy journals for expectant and new parents. In the later stages of her pregnancy, Martha created three brand new roles; a Graphic Designer, a Marketing Assistant and a Customer Services Assistant. 13 team members and counting!

January 2018

Chris & Martha welcome Hermione

We welcomed the youngest team member to join Martha Brook; a baby girl called Hermione. She became a regular fixture in the office hanging out with her honoured ‘aunties’ and with a designated nap spot, right next to Martha’s desk.

September 2018

The First Stationery Social & Advent Calendar Launch

The Stationery Social sold out within 24 hours and we launched our very first stationery advent calendar that was highly regarded by customers and press alike.

August 2020

Martha Brook begins investment journey

We raised our first round of investment through equity crowdfunding, hitting our target in less than two days!

Martha Brook is proud to have 500 investors, made up of loyal customers and friends of the brand who raised over £200,000.

October 2020

Launch of the new website

After 7 busy and exciting years, Martha and the team celebrate another birthday and prepare for the launch of our brand-new website!

As we embark on an exciting new phase of the brand, we’ve welcomed new roles, making it a team of 17 (eeek!)
