10 ideas for what to get the person who has everything

As we get older, some people can get really tricky to buy for, whether you have a family member who can just buy things if they need them, or a friend who was always a little difficult to get gifts for (and you’re starting to run low on ideas!). If you’re stuck on what to get the person who has everything, we’ve had a bit of a brainstorm and come up with some suggestions we think you’re going to love.

The key to gifting to someone who seemingly has everything is to give them something which falls into one of our three ‘Can’t-Go-Wrong’ Categories (this has a nice ring to it!) . The categories are: things you can’t have too many of, experiences you can do again and again, and personalised keepsakes they’ll want to hold onto forever. If your gift falls into one of these categories, you are guaranteed that you’ll find something they’ll appreciate. With that being said, we’ve come up with a list of some of our favourite ideas for what to get the person who has everything, and we hope you find it helpful!

10 ideas for what to get the person who has everything

An unkillable plant

Martha Brook personalised stationery blog 10 ideas for what to get the person who has everything beards and daisies easy to care for plants. A chinese money plant with round, green leaves sits on a shelf in a dark grey pot. There is a wooden candlestick to the left.

Flowers are out and plants are in – they are the gift that can last forever in the right conditions! And Beards and Daisies make that even easier to achieve, having a range of ‘easy to care for’ plants on their website that make the perfect gift. If you pick something that is virtually impossible to kill, you’re not gifting a responsibility – just something that is going to brighten their day. We’re firm believers that you can never have too many plants, so even if the person you’re gifting to has lots of leafy friends already, another one added to the mix won’t hurt.

Something edible

Next on our list of what to get the person who has everything, you can’t go wrong with an edible gift. Whether that’s freshly baked cookies or a box of their favourite cheeses, these gifts are always useful and appreciated. If you want our recommendation, these brownies from Chummy’s Bakery are a fail safe – we can’t say no to the gooey, chocolatey goodness. They fit through a letterbox so can be sent directly to the recipient and you can choose to go classic or mix it up with a range of flavours. The perfect gift for someone who is difficult to buy for!

Personalised Notebook

Ok, so maybe we’re a little biased, but as stationery lovers our life motto is basically ‘you can never have too many notebooks’. And it’s true! We will always find a use for them. Our personalised notebooks make a gift that is practical, personal and pretty – a great all-rounder for the person who has ‘everything’. Our newly released ‘The World is your Oyster’ notebook has such a beautiful design, and the sentiment can be suited to so many occasions. They may have virtually everything, but they won’t say no to a notebook like ours!

An evening out

Whilst getting someone a physical gift is always a lovely sentiment, if they are difficult to buy for then an experience is always a good idea. Tickets to see their favourite band live or a trip to the theatre makes a great alternative to getting them something you’re not sure if they will enjoy. Theatre direct do theatre ticket and dinner packages so you can really make an evening out of it!

If the person you’re gifting to is an avid reader but you just wouldn’t know where to start with buying them a book, you can call in the experts over at Mysterious Bookcase. Their Blind Date with a Book service is a mystery book chosen by them, but you can give them recommendations of favourite authors, authors to avoid – you can even link the recipient’s Goodreads or Storygraph account and they can make their recommendations based on what they have already read and enjoyed!

A photo frame keepsake

This one falls into our ‘personalised keepsakes they’ll want to hold onto forever’ category. If you’re not sure what to get the person who has everything, they won’t have one of these beautiful personalised photo frames from Olive and Pip. You can customise them with your own photos and message so no two would ever be the same! A sentimental gift is a great option if the person you’re gifting for already has everything else they could ever want – a small reminder of how loved they are can go a long way.

A mystery picnic

A treasure hunt that ends in a picnic in a beautiful setting? Count us in! Mystery Picnics are a unique experience gift that sends the recipients on a treasure hunt for all of the different food and drink components of their picnic, with a beautiful location at the end in which to enjoy it. A personalised mug

Remember when we said there was no such thing as too many notebooks? Yeah, we think mugs fall into that bracket of things in life, too. We would NEVER say no to a new mug, and any new ones added to our collection will fast become our favourite tea-drinking receptacle. We’ve admired Cornishware mugs for a long time – so many beautiful colours, a classic design and can be customised with whatever wording you like, so can be made completely unique for your person who has everything!

A custom photo album

Another one of our favourite sentimental gift ideas for the person who has everything is a personalised photo album. No two photo albums are ever the same, and you can never have too many of them, either! Looking back on treasured memories together is so special, and filling the photo album could even become a lovely activity to do together, too.

Quality time

We’ve saved this one for last on our list of what to get the person who has everything, because we believe if all else fails, this one will always be appreciated. Don’t worry about what they might have or not have, and instead give the gift of your time. Cook a favourite recipe together, arrange some time in the calendar to sit and watch your favourite movie together, go to your favourite cafe. There’s beauty in the mundane sometimes – as much as grand gestures can be lovely, it’s the little things that often mean the most!

We hope you found something on this list to inspire you in your search for a gift for the person in your life who has everything!
