If you’re anything like us, taking the tree down (boo!) and getting back to reality can leave us feeling a little discombobulated!? But fear not, January needn’t be a month to dread…With a new year comes plenty of new opportunities and we’re going to show you how you can have a kinder start to January and how you can embrace the new year energy to have exactly the year you want. 2024, let’s do this!

How to embrace the new year

1. Have a declutter

First up on our list of ways to embrace the new year is by having a good ol’ clear out. Deciding what no longer serves a purpose around your home is an incredibly cathartic task and will help you feel refreshed and ready to tackle the year ahead. Take the time to really think about what you no longer use or need and if not, ask yourself how you can repurpose that item or donate it to your local charity shop to give it a new loving home. Win, win!

2. Reflect on the previous year

Before we get stuck into creating intentions and setting goals for 2024, now’s the time to sit back and reflect on 2023 and think about what was great…and not so great. Perhaps you picked up a new hobby you want to dedicate more time for this year, or maybe you found you didn’t spend enough time looking after yourself. In order to move forward and to create lasting change, it’s always a good idea to let go of those habits that are holding you back.

3. Consider your goals for 2024

A brilliant way to embrace the new year is by setting some goals for the year ahead. You’ve got a clean sheet in front of you that’s yours for the taking, so think about what it is that excites and inspires you. Do you want to read more in 2024? 5. Print some photos from 2023

A great way to embrace the new year and fill yourself with excitement for the adventures that lay ahead is by printing some photos from last year. In the buzz of day-to-day life, it can be easy to forget the little moments that mean the most, and there’s no better way to get that warm fuzzy feeling than by sorting through your photos and recalling some of your most precious memories from the previous year. Need a new photo album to pop them in? Discover ours here.

6. Try something new that you’ve wanted to do for a while

Sometimes we find ourselves waiting for ‘the right moment’ to try new things. We find any and every reason under the sun but as a new year dawns, there’s no better time to seize the day and go for it! Make the time to try something new that really excites you and hey, you might just discover a brand-new hobby whilst you’re at it too. What are you waiting for?! You will not regret it, we promise.

7. Try a new morning routine

Morning routines are integral to how the rest of your day will pan out so why not set yourself up to start each day that little bit brighter? With winter still at our doors, it can be easy to want to stay curled up in bed until the very last minute, but by waking up just 30 minutes earlier each day, that’s 3 and a half hours extra each week to do something just for yourself. From reading to going for a walk, making small tweaks to your morning routine can have a profound effect on your mood and can transform your entire week! Let us know in the comments of your morning routine!

8. Be kind to your mind

January can be… a lot! With routines pretty much scrapped over Christmas, finding your rhythm again as you get back into the swing of things can be tricky so embrace the new year with a bit of self-kindness. Listen to what your body needs and remember you have a whole year ahead of you, so there’s no rush to get started on those goals or getting back to exercise immediately. Take your time and remember, slow and steady wins the race!

We hope this has helped you embrace the new year and kick start 2024 in a way which feels kind and inspiring. If you have any new year rituals you like to keep, do let us know in the comments.
