Will you be my bridesmaid? 4 lovely tips for bridesmaid proposals
May 5Woohoo, you’re engaged! Saying ‘yes’ can be one of the most exciting days of your life, and with planning under way, it’s time to start thinking about who you’ll want by your side as you say ‘I do’. Asking your friends or family “will you be my bridesmaid” can be as simple or as creative as you like, so if you’re wondering how to pop the question, read on for our top tips for bridesmaid proposals.
1. Choose your bride tribe
First up, and most importantly when it comes to bridesmaid proposals, is to think about who you’d like to ask. Maybe it’s a best friend you’ve known for pretty much your whole life or your sibling that you couldn’t do it without. Write up your list and sit on it for a bit to make sure you’re 100% happy with who you’ve chosen. Remember, it’s a pretty big decision to make and you shouldn’t feel any pressure to ask certain people, this one is down to you!
2. Timing is everything
Once you’ve got a solid list together that you’re happy with, think about when you’d like to propose to your bridesmaids. Brides.com recommends the rule of thumb – to ask at least 8 months – 1 year before your wedding. This way you can relax (somewhat!) knowing you’ve plenty of time for the hen do, to organise their outfits and that your big day is safe from any overlapping plans. Happy days!
3. Make it personal
Now for the fun bit, finding unique and creative bridesmaid proposals. There are plenty of different ways you can pop the question, depending on your preference. If you’d like something simple and understated, this lovely Personalised Be My Bridesmaid Proposal Card is just the thing to write a meaningful message to ask them if they’ll be a part of your big day. Perhaps you’re after something a bit more creative that they can treasure long after you’ve tied the knot, like this stunning Luxury Will You Be My Bridesmaid Gift Box with an assortment of personalised gifts inside. No matter which you’d rather, your bridesmaid won’t be expecting a bit song and dance, they’ll just be delighted to be asked to be by your side.
4. Have a get together
And what are bridesmaid proposals without a lovely get together to ask them all? With prosecco at the ready and some yummy snacks, we think there’s no better way for your bridesmaids to get to know one another better if they don’t already. And what a wonderful way to share the memory of the bride popping the question!
Remember, there’s no pressure to propose to your bridesmaids in an overly extravagant way, nor should it break the bank (you’ve got a wedding to pay for!) No matter how you decide to ask them to be your bridesmaids, we’re pretty sure they’ll be delighted for the honour.
