What’s the difference between a weekly and a daily diary?

We get asked this question a lot! The main difference between a weekly and daily diary is the inside spreads, as both offer slightly different formats. A weekly diary features a week-to-view spread so you can see your entire week at a glance and a daily diary dedicates a day per page, so you can drill down into each day of the week. Some people prefer weekly diaries to use as their top-line calendar to stay on top of a busy schedule, and others prefer a daily diary to use almost like a detailed to-do list for each day of the week.

Daily Diary

A daily diary is a day-per-page diary and is best used for very specific planning. Think your daily-to-do-list but in your own diary! A daily diary gives you the space each day of the week to be very detailed with your time and tick things off as you move through each day.

Christie, our Marketing Manager, uses the Nurture Daily Diary: “Each day for me is so very different, one day I might be working on our Christmas campaign, another day I might be back to back on calls, so I love using a daily diary to map out the exact structure for my day ahead. It keeps me accountable and super focused, especially during busier periods where it’s easy to get side-tracked (guilty!). As the whole team by know now, if it’s not written down, I’ll likely forget!”

Weekly Diary

A weekly diary is a week-to-view diary where you can see your whole week in a snapshot. They tend to lend themselves better to habit-tracking, goal-setting, keeping important dates and working on bigger tasks that can take up the whole week.

Lucy, our Graphic Designer, uses the Making Plans Weekly Diary: “I’m definitely more of a week at a glance girlie! A huge part of my job is designing each newsletter that lands in your inbox so the weekly diary works perfectly for me to have a clear view of what’s going out each week. The run up to Christmas is always super busy for me so I like having a clear view of what I need to design and I also love the notes section at the back for all my design drawings!”

Which are you?

We all have different planning preferences and knowing which is the right fit can be hard! You’re either in one or two camps… You’re a weekly planner on the go who’s working on chunkier tasks and carries a diary everywhere (you’ll never know when you’ll need it!). Or, you’re a daily planner who needs to tick things off as they move through each day and has their to-do list written down by 9am. So which are you? A daily planner or a weekly planner? Let us know in the comments!
