9 brilliant things to do in between Christmas and New Year
1. Watch cosy classic Christmas movies
Knowing you don’t have to wake up early for work the next day makes movie watching even more exciting! Cosy up on the sofa with a thick blanket, a cup of something warm and some festive treats because it’s time to get through those classic Christmas movies. Bored of endlessly scrolling to search for a festive film? This list has our top picks for Christmas films… Keep the change ya filthy animal.

2. Bundle up and go for a crisp walk
Next up on our list of brilliant things to do in between Christmas and New Year is to go for a walk. Find us something better than seeing blue skies, hearing the crunch of fresh frost and having fresh, cold air on your cheeks…we’ll be waiting. This time of year is the best for wrapping up in endless layers and venturing out into the great outdoors for a lovely walk. Even with a nip in the air, there’s something so darn cosy about getting back in and sticking the kettle on. Head over to the National Trust to find out where’s local to you.

3. Create your own 2023 jar
A lovely creative activity to do in between Christmas and New Year is to make your own 2023 jar. This doesn’t have to be super-duper fancy, you can recycle something you have at home, be it a pretty vase, an old candle holder or an empty Kilner jar. First of all, write down things you want to achieve in 2023 i.e. places you want to go, things you want to do or date night ideas to mix things up. Make it personal to you, and then simply fold it up and pop it into your 2023 jar. Each month, pick out one token and you’ll have a place to go, a date to plan or an item to achieve! We’ve seen lots of different variations of this over the years, so the more creative, the better.
4. Declutter your home…and mind!
Decluttering might not be considered worthy of a place on our brilliant things to do in between Christmas and New Year…but hear us out. It doesn’t have to be springtime to have a good, ol’ deep clean, In fact having a proper de-clutter is a great way to see in the new year! Not only will you be starting 2023 with the best of intentions, it provides a moment of mindfulness, proven to increase happiness, calmness and create a sense of control. We’ve only recently heard of the ‘strangers, acquaintances and friends’ method, which we love and you can read more on it here!

5. Put your mind to a pretty puzzle
Is it really in between Christmas and New Year without a puzzle?! Whether you enjoy finishing it in one sitting (if this is you, we praise you!) or like going back to it over a week or two, a brand-new puzzle makes for an afternoon of fun and gets the brain moving. We love Pieces Store, made from FSC certified wood and starch-based glue, they have some of the prettiest puzzles around. Not only do they look good, they do good too. Take part in their circular economy where you can donate your puzzle to an in-need organisation, and you’ll get a discount off your next puzzle.
