Spirit of Christmas 2019: Designing an event stand on a budget
Nov 17Last week we popped up at Spirit of Christmas at Olympia London. If you haven’t been before, hundreds of independent British brands are brought together in one place, plus food & drink, workshops and more! It is A LOT of fun and a brilliant way to get your Christmas shopping done early.
Our challenge was to create an eye-catching stand on a tight budget. We wanted to keep it pink so that people would recognise it as us, but also make it a whole lot more festive by bringing in the green of this year’s stationery advent calendar.
The feature wall was our styling focus. To save money, we kept the sideboard we used last year, but gave it a makeover using a marble effect self-adhesive film to create a new surface and added gold T-bar cabinet handles, both from B&Q.
New additions to add a touch of luxe included a pair of slim brass shelves and some gold speckled wooden stars from Cox & Cox, a clear and gold honeycomb vase from Oliver Bonas, a set of pink and grey metal storage trunks from Made.com, and a deep green velvet cocktail chair from Dunelm. All looked more expensive then they actually were!
Elsewhere, we incorporated greenery and gold accents throughout with a lit garland at the top of the stand, some beautifully wrapped presents and other foliage. Just enough to look chic and festive, but not detract from the wall of stationery we wanted draw customers in to browse.
Thank you so much to the brilliant Tia Talula for these stunning photos. Hello if you came along to see us and did some Christmas shopping! If you missed out, you can visit our new Christmas shop here.
